Quality H.M.C. U.S. M1 Carbine .30 Carbine

DESCRIPTION
QUALITY H.M.C U.S M1 CARBINE 30 CAL. Semi Auto Rifle, 18" Barrel, Very Good Condition, Shiny Bore, Tight Action, sn:4648277 This example is marked "QUALITY H.M.C. / US M1 CARBINE / .30 CARBINE WW II / 1943." Quality Machine Hardware Corporation (Chicago, IL) manufactured less than 6% of all wartime M1 Carbines, making these fairly rare items, especially in this condition. Quality HMC was one of the very few prime contractors to manufacture mainly receivers; QHMC utilized barrels from Rock-Ola and Underwood, and stocks from Rock-Ola, among others. This example has a 10-43 dated Underwood barrel. The serial number places this carbine in the final serial number block assigned to QHMC. It is likely in its original "as issued" configuration. Includes a gun sock.

COLLECTOR NOTES
Quality Hardware & Machine was one of the World War II U.S. M1 Carbine prime contractors and produced a comparatively small share of total wartime carbines. The catalog specifically highlights the Quality H.M.C. receiver and detailed contractor parts, which are central to collector evaluation.
